Staff profile: Emma, 7th Grade Class Teacher

As a way for you, our website visitors, families, and friends, to get to know us at The Camphill School, we will be profiling a member of our staff on the third Thursday of the month.

September’s staff member is Emma, our 7th Grade Class Teacher. Here is a little about her:

Been with the school since: 2011-2012 school year

What is your favorite thing about working at the school?: This is probably everyone’s answer, but my favorite thing is getting to know all of our unique and remarkable students! They teach me new things each day. I feel very lucky to be able to work with these amazing children on a stunningly beautiful campus alongside kind, creative colleagues from around the world.

What is a memorable event/moment that means a lot to you?: Sometimes the most special moments are a quiet walk in the woods, breathing, and just being together.

What do you hope for the upcoming school year?: Something big this year is creating and performing our 7th Grade puppet show! We are beginning to learn the story and warm up our hand-sewing skills with Tina in Handwork Class. We will make each puppet and prop, learn music to perform, and practice our roles in the show. I hope that we can not only present a wonderful puppet show for the community in March, but also just enjoy every step of the process together between now and then. In general, my hope is that we will strive toward great things, while also appreciating the small, day-to-day moments that make up the year.

Thanks, Emma, for sharing and for your dedication to our students. We look forward to hearing and seeing more about the puppet show!
