Special Education Teacher Job Opportunities

We are looking for creative, resourceful individuals who can help our students unfold their independence through our rich curriculum that is focused on functional skill-building, artistic expression and academic learning. The mission of The Camphill School is to create wholeness for children and youth with developmental disabilities through education, extended family living, and therapy so that they may be better understood, they may more fully unfold their potential, and they may meaningfully participate in life. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment 
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate educational activities that are grounded in the educational principles and best practices of Curative, Waldorf and Special Education that are based on adaptations of the Waldorf curriculum 
  • Provide direct remedial and specialized instructions to both individuals and small groups in the areas of functional academic skills and functional life skills 
  • All other duties related to support of the class assigned, such parent communication and staff management 
  • Administrative duties related to development of IEPs 
  • Prepare and participate in child conferences as scheduled 
  • Work collaboratively with class assistants, para-professionals and other instructional staff in a friendly, professional manner 
  • Work collaboratively with therapists to discuss student progress 
  • Be knowledgeable about and implement school policies 
  • Attend teachers’ faculty meetings and additionally scheduled meetings 
  • Attend training sessions (First-Aid/CPR, CPI, etc.) held throughout the academic year at The Camphill School 

Qualifications: 

  • BA in relevant field 
  • PA Special Education Certificate 
  • Previous teaching experience 

Job Type: Full-time during school terms 

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:15AM-4:15PM 

Pay: Starting at $50,000 per year
