Each year as we enter the month of May, the buzz in high school is prom! This year was no expectation; on Friday, May 19, 2023, the schoolhouse was transformed into a factory. This wasn’t just any factory. It was Charlie’s Factory from the classic 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. When all the students arrived at school Friday morning, they were met with a large golden ticket that granted them all access to the factory at 5:30 pm; it promised marvelous surprises, so don’t be late! Once the wait was over and everyone was gathered by the front gate, dressed in their very best, they signed the contract and indulged in some cotton candy. Willy Wonka himself opened the gate and invited all inside. As they entered, they saw a park complete with a chocolate river that lead them up the stairs to the factory floor. Throughout the night, the students enjoyed their very own Wonka chocolate bar, dinner, dessert, and some fizzy lifting drinks. Willy Wonka served as the DJ for the evening and played some tunes everyone knows and loves. The night was filled with smiles, laughter, memory-making, and a lot of dancing. It was a special night for all the high school students to come together and share such a wonderful moment in their journey together.
